Who are we?
Ananda Nagar Development Society is a national level non-governmental voluntary organization registered under the West Bengal Act XXVI of 1961. The organization’s prime objectives are to educate and develop the moral standing of youth for the overall development of weaker and marginalized sections of the society. The organization observed that crime, murder, hatred, wars and riots are increasing and the humanitarian values are reducing every day; thus we need to work to overcome such problems.
Ananda Nagar Development Society looked into this and decided that proper education and cultivation of the cultural ground can be the solution, and if a seed is sown then through sincere and hard work it can overcome the problem. According to the scriptures, “Teach a child how he should live and he will remember it all his life”.
Ananda Nagar Development Society is nothing but a bold step by a group of people who think that we need to change the world. We need to start from our children. The Society focuses on “root then fruit”. We not only want to help the children grow but also to help the parents. We know that it is a slow process and we need to be very patient but we believe in the phrase “slow and steady wins the race“.
Let Rarh, the nucleus of human culture and starting point of human civilization be again effulgent in its own glory. Let it overflow with its abundant treasures – its fruits and flowers, minerals, human resources and spiritual wealth. Let the veil of fog vanish from its path, and let the pale and gloomy face of Rarh, fraught with countless agonies, again burst into a radiant smile.
Mission & Vision
Some of the righteous people of the world are already thinking collectively of Rarh and planning a concrete multi-purpose scheme for its all-round social and economic rehabilitation. On the 100sq km of Ananda Nagar a gigantic educational and cultural complex will be built, which already includes 32 village schools, 5 orphan children’s homes, one hostel for poor students, Abha Seva Sadan charitable hospital and the Women’s Welfare Center. Ananda Nagar is rapidly becoming the social and educational centre for 55 surrounding villages. From this nucleus, schools will soon be opened in every village, which will be the focal points for numerous economic regeneration programmes such as agricultural cooperatives and irrigation schemes. The basic essentiality for the area is water, for if the land is irrigated, the sand will again be converted into soil. A complex irrigation project is in the next phase of the Ananda Nagar development scheme, and from the newly irrigated land a rationalized, cooperative agricultural programme will be implemented, including reforestation of rare trees from around the world, especially fruit trees, planting of medicinal herbs, cereal crops and fibres to produce fabrics.
Ananda Nagar’s comprehensive educational facilities will be expanded to include extensive libraries and fully equipped laboratories, and a solar-powered auditorium which will provide through video media and visiting lecturers the highest standard of education to the villagers of the area. Through education we must raise the consciousness and intellectual standard of the local people and train them to develop the vast potential economic resources of their land.
Thus in one of the most backward, neglected districts of the world, populated by impoverished tribal people, a unique educational and cultural complex will arise, like a phoenix rising from the ashes of Rarh’s ancient glory. Ananda Nagar will be a beacon of light for the world, to demonstrate in practice how the oldest eastern spirituality can be harmoniously blended with the latest western technology for the all-round development of all creatures – Tantra pitthas with bio-gas plants and geodesic domes, yogic training with video technology, sacred groves with solar roofs.
Mission
The aim of the schools is to make the children in rural and tribal areas confident, self-reliant and useful members of society. They should, when they enter the world, be able to take an active interest in the betterment of their homes and community. When they grow up and take their place in life they should have the advantage of a sound education which enables them to fit in a useful manner into the world of tomorrow.
Vision
Service to all living beings with the ideation of God is our sublime vision. This is known as Neo-Humanism, which includes the well-being of plants & trees, animals and birds as well as human beings at large. Physical, mental and spiritual upliftment of every human being is our prime motto and pious vision. Through all-round service, education, relief, medical services in different natural calamities and various social development works, etc.
