ANDS works in the area in various ways: schools and other facilities are dedicated to the full intellectual, cultural and spiritual development of girls and boys. Cultural growth is based on the Neo-Humanist philosophy of P. R. Sarkar.
Culture is an integral part of any social and economic development project. Culture encompasses multiple human expressions and, in a simple and poor rural setting such as Ananda Nagar, must be able to express a concrete and favorable design of hope and development for each person. Each individual human being must be able to bring out his or her abilities, potentialities, and in this way enrich the community of which he or she is a part.
ANDS’s cultural project grows with the school, offering students opportunities to study and develop their talent, their artistic expressions, the ability to find, through meditative practices, their deep personality and individual potentialities in favor of a just and impartial social growth.
R. Sarkar has often spoken of art, music, and literature as instruments of cultural development both for human beings and for all animate and non-animate creation. The artist must suggest an attitude of benevolence toward all creation and strive for mutual cooperation.
